Governance
This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

- $2,169 spent. Charlotte Woman Of The Year Award - Annually the organization presents the prestigious CWOY Award to a woman who has demonstrated exemplary civic leadership and exceptional service in recognition of her impact on the quality of life in our community. Nominations are solicited from a broad cross-sector of community groups and organizations. The selection of the Charlotte Woman of the Year is made by members of the organization (all prior honorees), following which a news release is issued to individual and community stakeholders and to area media. It is also posted on the CWOY website.Last year the Charlotte Woman Of The Year Award was presented to Dena Diorio who had served as Manager of Mecklenburg County since 2013 until her retirement in 2025. Diorio, the first woman to serve as the County Manager, distinguished herself as a visionary leader who worked across sectors to bring people together, drive meaningful change and champion innovative solutions that have strengthened our community and meaningfully impacted the lives of residents throughout the county.
- $26,674 spent. Civic Leadership Forum - The Civic Leadership Forum is held in October and engages a cross-sector group of community and civic leaders. The purpose of the Forum is to connect and educate civic leaders and inspire them to engage more intentionally in the community around issues that impact the quality of life for all. The Forum is also an occasion during which the organization publicly and personally honors the CWOY Award recipient for that year. In 2025, in addition to recognizing the new CWOY honoree Dena Diorio, the Forum celebrated CWOYs 70th Anniversary through a Past - Present - Future formatted program which featured a video that not only framed CWOYs history but featured interviews with five Over-90 members. The program included an interactive segment in which attendees engaged with one another around future thinking using the Steeple Framework.
