What it says it does
THE SANCTUARY STRONGLY BELIEVES THAT WOMEN WHO EXPERIENCE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DESERVE EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO GET THEMSELVES AWAY FROM ABUSERS AND HAVE A SAFE LIVING SPACE TO GO TO WITH RESOURCES TO HELP SURVIVORS HEAL AND GET BACK ON THEIR FEET SO THEY DONT END UP RETURNING TO THEIR ABUSERS. ACCORDINGLY, THE SANCTUARYS PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE A WELLNESS SANCTUARY FOR WOMEN (COLLECTIVELY REFERRED TO HEREIN AS THE PARTICIPANT) (TOGETHER WITH THEIR CHILDREN AND PETS) WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TO HEAL FROM THEIR TRAUMA AND REESTABLISH THEIR INDEPENDENCE BY PROVIDING THEM WITH SAFE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING AND RESOURCES SUCH AS COUNSELING, HEALING ACTIVITIES, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, LIFE SKILLS, CHILDCARE, LEGAL ADVOCACY, AND MORE.

Financial health
We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance
This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

- THE ORGANIZATION IS IN DEVELOPMENT FINAL STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT. THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE A WELLNESS SANCTUARY FOR WOMEN (COLLECTIVELY REFERRED TO HEREIN AS THE "PARTICIPANT") (TOGETHER WITH THEIR CHILDREN AND PETS) WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TO HEAL FROM THEIR TRAUMA AND REESTABLISH THEIR INDEPENDENCE BY PROVIDING THEM WITH SAFE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING AND RESOURCES SUCH AS COUNSELING, HEALING ACTIVITIES, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, LIFE SKILLS, CHILDCARE, LEGAL ADVOCACY, AND MORE. TO QUALIFY, A PARTICIPANT MUST (1) BE A SURVIVOR OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE (SELF-IDENTIFIED AND/OR REFERRED BY PARTNER AGENCIES), (2) HAVE LEGAL OR SHARED CUSTODY OF CHILDREN, IF APPLICABLE, (3) HAVE THE ABILITY OR WILLINGNESS TO ENGAGE IN SUPPORTIVE SERVICES (E.G., CASE MANAGEMENT, THERAPY, JOB TRAINING, ETC.), (3) HAVE THE ABILITY TO CONTRIBUTE INCOME- BASED RENT (OR DEMONSTRATE FINANCIAL HARDSHIP), (4) AGREE TO COMMUNITY GUIDELINES AND PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS SET BY THE SANCTUARY, AND (5) ENSURE THAT ANY PETS ARE CURRENT ON VACCINATIONS AND ARE NON-AGGRESSIVE TOWARDS OTHER RESIDENTS OR ANIMALS. THE SANCTUARY WILL CREATE AN APPLICATION WHEREBY PARTICIPANT APPLY TO BE A PART OF THE SANCTUARY'S PROGRAM. THE SANCTUARY'S DIRECTORS AND OFFICERS (AND LIKELY EMPLOYEES LATER ON) WILL REVIEW EACH APPLICATION. RENT WILL INITIALLY BE CHARGED BASED ON A PERCENTAGE OF MONTHLY INCOME, TYPICALLY 25%-30% OF MONTHLY INCOME, FOLLOWING HUD AFFORDABILITY GUIDELINES. NO OTHER FEES, INCLUDING MAINTENANCE FEES, WILL BE CHARGED. HOWEVER, PARTICIPANTS WITH NO INCOME MAY RECEIVE FULL OR PARTIAL SUBSIDY DURING THE STABILIZATION PERIOD. UTILITIES OR ADDITIONAL SERVICE COSTS MAY BE INCLUDED OR WAIVED DEPENDING ON AVAILABLE FUNDING. ALTHOUGH RENT IS INITIALLY CHARGED, THE SANCTUARY INTENDS TO USE A PORTION OF THE COLLECTED RENT (E.G., 25%) AS A SAVINGS ACCOUNT FOR THE PARTICIPANT TO BE GIVEN TO THE PARTICIPANT ON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE REHABILITATION PROGRAM. THIS CREATES A SMALL NEST EGG OR MATCHED SAVINGS ACCOUNT TO SUPPORT THE PARTICIPANT'S TRANSITION INTO PERMANENT HOUSING.
