Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $18,129 spent. In 2024, Borough Community Action Network (BCAN) expanded its food access efforts by operating multiple pantry and mobile soup kitchen sites across Manhattan, the Bronx, and Brooklyn, distributing over 23,000 food packages, rescuing more than 13,000 pounds of food, and serving over 10,000 hot meals. BCAN also partnered with a church and a social daycare facility to operate additional food distribution locations, which were funded through three separate spending accounts totaling $18,000 dedicated exclusively to pantry food purchases. These collaborative efforts allowed BCAN to extend its reach to more families experiencing food insecurity while building strong community-based partnerships that support sustainable service delivery.
