Points to look into

  • It reported loans to or from officers, directors or other insiders.

These come from the organization's own tax return. There may be a good explanation; ask the charity.

What it says it does

The VCC mission is to support community projects, needs, and services through equitable distribution of funds generated from our Thrift Store and other USAG Italy-approved fundraising events. To enrich daily life on Caserma Ederle and Del Din through service to others and community building. To empower our members through professional development, educational, philanthropic, cultural, social and creative programming. While the organization is based on a US military base in Italy, all revenues were collected by an American military committee, and distributed to US-based organizations and individuals on the US base in Italy.

Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (4)
  1. $13,647 spent. Community and Member Events: VCC hosts regular monthly luncheon events, the majority of which are open to the local military community. The lunches are designed to bring community together and foster a robust network of support while living overseas. CIAO Conference: Women's conference hosted by VCC as a community support function offering multiple days of personal and professional development seminars to women in the military and local Vicenza, Italy community.
  2. $37,708 spent. Thrift Store: VCC operates a Thrift Store selling low-cost donated items on the US Army Garrison Vicenza, Italy military base as a service to the Vicenza military community. The Thrift Store is open year-round. The Thrift Store furthers the Vicenza Community Club's exempt purpose by providing low-cost donated merchandise to members of the military community and certain host nation charities. The Thrift Store also raises funds to support the charitable grants and scholarships that VCC provides to the organizations in the military community and military spouses and dependents.
  3. $50,272 spent. Grant Programs: The Community Enrichment Grant program provides funding to organizations in need to funds to provide charitable, educational or military community related services. The Community Enrichment Grant activity is conducted year-round with an open, rolling monthly application available to community members to apply for financial grants. VCC supports Survivors Outreach Services, military units, military soldier and family readiness groups, local schools, military support organizations and many other local groups who share VCC's passion for improving the Vicenza military community. In addition, VCC chooses monthly philanthropy projects to support. The Bright Eyes Program Grant provides grants to children of active duty military members for the cost of one or more pairs of eyeglasses up to $150 per school year. The Bright Eyes Program Grant is conducted on a rolling basis. Both grant programs are funded by the amounts raised through selling donated goods at the Thrift Store and fundraisers earmarked for philanthropy and community interest. In FY25, there were no Bright Eyes grants. However, grants were given to 13 local non-profit organizations, plus over 20 teams and clubs at Vicenza High School and Middle School, totaling $50,272.
  4. $17,000 spent. Scholarships: VCC provides two scholarships - the Manetti Scholarship and the Fondi Scholarship - to students applying for admission to or enrolled in an accredited educational institution. The application period opens in February or March of each year. The amount of each scholarship ranges from $500 to $4,000, depending on annual available funds. The scholarships further VCC's exempt purpose by supporting its educational and charitable purposes of providing funds to deserving scholarship recipients in the military community to assist in paying for higher education. The scholarship program is funded by the amounts raised in selling donated goods in the Thrift Store and other fundraisers earmarked for philanthropy and community interest. In FY25, there were 14 recipients of scholarship awards, totaling $17,000.
