Programs described in its return (1)
- $320,674 spent. The Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce Foundation holds the responsibility for the design and implementation of all educational programs. The premier program, Young Leadership Collaborative (YLC) graduated the 16th cohort of scholars after a school year long training in finance, business development and leadership. The cohort graduated 13 scholars from high schools in the region along with the two universities and the community college district. The Foundation hired a .5 FTE to coordinate the program and all of the volunteers received a stipend for time spent presenting specific modules relating to finance and leadership. Foundation support staff were available for administrative requirements. Some of our class work was done virtually, but while working on their capstone project they were required to be in person. Scholars met twice a month for four hours each session and were also required to attend Chamber events to hone their networking skills. Another module was added where mentors were recruited to work with the scholars throughout the course of the program. Their one-on-one communications were extremely helpful to the success of each of our scholars. Almost all of the mentors have agreed to continuing their mentorship with the scholars even though they've graduated from the program. Several of the scholars themselves have asked to come on as mentors for the next cohort.
