Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $110,696 spent. The Uptown Gay and Lesbian Alliances charitable program now has five components: (1) mixer honorariums to program providers; (2) community grants to organizations selected by the Board of Directors; (3) a matching fund program where club members select schools or 501(c)(3) organizations within Los Angeles County to get donations; and (4) a scholarship program designed to reward students promoting social justice issues.
  2. $10,795 spent. The Uptown Gay and Lesbian Alliances third and normally robust program is member support where we fund monthly pot-luck mixers, plan outings which may involve supplying transportation, take part in the Los Angeles Philharmonic outreach, care and contact with members undergoing health issues, grief, isolation, etc.
  3. $6,880 spent. The Uptown Gay and Lesbian Alliances educational component also involves community outreach to enhance our visibility in the community. We publish a monthly newsletter, support community art projects, festivals, clean-ups, engage with Neighborhood Councils, take out and pay for memberships in many neighborhood organizations, and pay for advertising in local newspapers and event programs.
