Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (6)
  1. $2.0 million spent. Harrington House The Victim Services program encompasses all of the help available at the domestic violence shelter, Harrington House. Here clients can receive counseling, legal assistance, and emergency shelter, clothing and food. Clients also have access to emergency medical and police response. Community education and certification on dealing with domestic violence is offered. The goal is to make sure each and every person who comes through our shelter takes with them valuable life skills and the confidence to live more independently.
  2. $185,879 spent. Supported LivingIndependent Living focuses on giving each client the skills and tools necessary to live their life as independently as possible. A close relationship is developed with the clients in an effort to find out how their needs can best be met. Some of the services this program offers involve securing housing, medical appointment tracking, cooking and shopping assistance, basic transportation, and even life skills training. Each of the clients is mentally challenged and a direct referral from the Redwood Coast Regional Center.
  3. $5,787 spent. Natural Resources RHS conducts various projects designed to improve the quality of the local waterways, thereby helping the native fish species, adjacent wildlife, and the entire community. Many of the coastal stream enhancement projects entail erosion control, fish habitat and barrier improvement, watershed restoration, and stream monitoring. RHS also conducts classroom education projects that encourage applied conservation practices and teach about the life-cycle of local salmon.
  4. Food Bank The Food Bank was created to provide monthly baskets of supplemental food to clients who would otherwise not have access to such resources. RHS also gives out annual Christmas baskets to qualifying participants and emergency food baskets to eligible candidates in need.
  5. Special ProgramsA project successfully run for several years is called Santas Workshop. This project entails collecting, wrapping, and distributing Christmas gifts to families who would otherwise be unable to provide them. Farmers Market is a weekly summer program that allows local merchants to sell their produce and certain home-made items to the public.
