Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $75,520 spent. Flood Relief for Tropical Storm Chantal: Following the flood Saxapahaw Forward was asked to step in as the fiscal agent so the community could raise and disburse funds. From July to September Saxapahaw Forward received donations exceeding $75,000 from more than 500 donors. Through a panel of five community members who reviewed the grant applications we supported 13 local businesses and nonprofits as they recovered from the flood giving away $73,750.
  2. $2,536 spent. Yee Haw Saxapahaw Celebration: On Sunday November 9th four months after the devastation of Tropical Storm Chantal our beloved village gathered together for an afternoon of joy gratitude music and connection. Saxapahaw Forward funded a variety of activities for children and adults including prayer flags for the river live music yoga for kids and other activities. Since all of the local businesses were impacted by the storm we gave each visitor a $7 coupon called Local Bucks to spend at a local business that day. Over 300 people attended the event and six local businesses were supported by the Local Bucks.
  3. $1,816 spent. Community and Neighborhood Development: Living into our purpose of playing a vital role in cultivating sustaining and enhancing our unique village identity community members were invited to participate in the life of the community in a wide variety of ways. Monthly workdays provided an opportunity for relationships to be built and strengthened. At these events volunteers enhanced our local landscape through planting trees and native plants among other things. We also worked with volunteers to add a Welcome to Saxapahaw sign on the main road and create a woodland workspace along our trails where people can gather in nature. In addition we hosted a program called Netwalking - an opportunity to network with neighbors while walking creating a dynamic supportive web of relationships while embracing the simple yet powerful journey of motion. We also hosted an annual community meeting in May to live into our purpose. More than 200 people have been involved in these events.
