What it says it does
The primary exempt purpose of the International Center for Theravada Buddhism is to promote mental health and communal harmony among people living in the United States, Sri Lanka, and other parts of the world, and to share knowledge and maintain communication among the Theravada Buddhist community worldwide. As part of this purpose, the organization conducts discussions, meditation programs, educational teachings, community outreach, and charitable activities. The organization provides opportunities for the public to learn Buddhist philosophy, practice meditation, and participate in cultural and spiritual programs that support moral development, compassion, and community well-being. Governance
This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Programs described in its return (1)
- $63,523 spent. During the past year, our organization conducted monthly workshops and community programs to promote mindfulness and loving-kindness (Metta) meditation among the Sri Lankan American community. These programs focused on improving mental wellbeing, encouraging compassion, and strengthening communal harmony through meditation practice, educational discussions, and spiritual guidance based on the Theravada Buddhist tradition. The organization also provided financial assistance and scholarship opportunities to underprivileged school children in Sri Lanka whose families have been severely affected by the ongoing economic crisis. These efforts helped support access to education and basic needs for vulnerable students and their families. In addition, the organization funded an ongoing project to preserve and digitize ancient Sri Lankan and South Asian manuscripts so that they may be safeguarded for future generations. This initiative helps ensure that the knowledge accumulated over thousands of years, including traditional wisdom, cultural heritage, and historical know-how remains accessible to future generations. We also collaborated with our parent organization, Paramaththa Foundation in Sri Lanka, and sister organizations in the United Kingdom and Australia to advance our shared educational and cultural objectives.
