Programs described in its return (1)
- $83,291 spent. Our volunteer organization maintains over 80 kilometers of diverse trails in three locations in the Homer area: Baycrest/Sunset, Lookout Mountain, and the McNeil and Eveline State Recreation Site. Trail conditions range from beginner to experienced covering a varied terrain through forests hills and sweeping vistas of beautiful Kachemak Bay. Over the course of its history. KNSC has initiated youth and ski lessons and training programs; ski race and social events; and fostered relationships with area and statewide schools to train youths for competition in state, national and international racing events including the Olympics. In peak winter months the trails are groomed almost daily for use by all and extra effort goes into maintaining quality conditions for ski events. KNSC maintains equipment and facilities at each area to support grooming and summer trail maintenance and works cooperatively with other recreational groups year-round on trail upkeep, improvements, and future developments.
