THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 34,000 USER VISITS FROM 140 COUNTRIES WITH 111,506 SESSIONS IN 2024. TO KEEP PATIENTS UP TO DATE, IHRF PUBLISHES AN ONLINE NEWSLETTER PROVIDING GENERAL INFORMATION AND REVIEWS OF NEWLY PUBLISHED MEDICAL LITERATURE.IHRF CONTINUES ITS SERVICE OF RESPONDING TO PATIENTS, PHYSICIANS, RESEARCHERS AND OTHERS WHOSE INQUIRIES MADE UP MORE THAN 2,800 EMAILS AND PHONE CALLS IN 2024.
- IN MARCH OF 2020, BECAUSE OF COVID, OREGON HEALTH & SCIENCE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER (OHSU) REQUIRED THAT ALL NON-ESSENTIAL OFFICES HAD TO BE CLOSED. AS A RESULT, THE INTRACRANIAL REGISTRY, CO-SPONSORED WITH THE CASEY EYE INSTITUTE, WAS UNABLE TO FUNCTION, AS RESEARCH COORDINATORS AND ALL VOLUNTEERS HAD TO WORK FROM HOME. THIS MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO FUNCTION AND IT REMAINS CLOSED SINCE JUNE OF THAT YEAR. DESIGNED EXCLUSIVELY FOR INTRACRANIAL HYPERTENSION RESEARCH, IT CONTAINED THE LARGEST NUMBER OF CHRONIC IH PATIENTS WORLDWIDE WITH AN ENROLLMENT DATA BASE OF 2,675 PATIENTS FROM OVER 40 COUNTRIES AND HAD CONTINUED TO ADD 5-7 NEW PATIENTS PER MONTH AT THE TIME OF CLOSURE. IT ALSO COLLECTED EXTENSIVE MEDICAL DATA AND IMAGING STUDIES ON EACH ENROLLEE, FILED ON A PAC SYSTEM AT THE NEURO-RADIOLOGY DEPT AT OHSU, MOST LIKELY THE LARGEST COLLECTION IN THE WORLD OF IH PATIENTS, NUMBERING APPROXIMATELY 17,500.OUR LAST COMPLETED STUDY OF DATA ON LONG-TERM OUTCOMES OF BARIATRIC SURGERY IN PATIENTS WITH IDIOPATHIC IH, LONG TERM OUTCOMES OF BARIATRIC SURGERY IN IDIOPATHIC INTRACRANIAL HYPERTENSION PATIENTS WAS PUBLISHED IN THE PUBLIC ACCESS SYSTEM OF THE NEUROLOGIST, JUNE 2022. THE PRINT VERSION WAS PUBLISHED IN THE NEUROLOGIST, VOLUME 28, NUMBER 2 - MARCH 2023. THIS IS THE FIRST STUDY OF LONG-TERM OUTCOMES, RANGING FROM 4 TO 16 POST OPERATIVE, PUBLISHED ON IH. THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR PUBLICATION CONTINUES TO BE SEEN BY UTILIZATION OF ITS RESULTS. FROM MARCH 2020 TO PRESENT, 83 DIFFERENT RESEARCH AUTHORS HAVE CITED IHRF AS KEY REFERENCES. DESPITE CLOSURE OF THE REGISTRY, IHRF CONTINUES TO BE NOTIFIED ABOUT 2 TIMES A WEEK OF UTILIZATION OF OUR ORIGINAL RESEARCH. IN ADDITION, IN RECOGNITION OF OUR PUBLISHED RESEARCH, WE CONTINUE TO RECEIVE REQUESTS TO REVIEW MEDICAL RESEARCH OF OTHERS FOR POSSIBLE PUBLICATION.IHRF CONTINUES TO RECEIVE INVITATIONS TO JOIN MEDICAL JOURNAL BOARDS, TO PRESENT INFORMATION BOOTHS AT SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS. WE RECEIVE REQUESTS TO PARTNER OR SUPPORT MEDICAL INVESTIGATIONS AT VARIOUS MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS WORLDWIDE.IHRF CONTINUES TO PROVIDE EXTENSIVE ASSISTANCE TO PATIENTS REQUESTING INFORMATION ON SECOND MEDICAL OPINIONS AND INFORMATION ON PHYSICIANS WHO TREAT IH, BOTH NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY. WE PROVIDE THE SAME SERVICE TO PHYSICIANS AND RESEARCHERS. WE CONTINUE TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT IH IN GENERAL BEYOND WHAT APPEARS ON OUR WEBSITE. ALL OUR SERVICES ARE ALWAYS FREE OF ANY CHARGES.
