Financial health
We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance
This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

- $19,944 spent. Global Source Education currently delivers its mission and operates under the DBA Suyematsu Farm Legacy Alliance. SFLA has become the official steward of the Suyematsu Farm Historic Property on Bainbridge Island, WA, which has been our home base since 2007. SFLA carries the legacy of Akio Suyematsu and his family farm through preserving this community asset as a center for interpretation, education, and active farming. Founded in 1928, the 40-acre Suyematsu Farm property is one of the oldest, continuously farmed working landscapes in the region, the largest production farm on Bainbridge Island, and a unique public-private partnership. In 2000, Akio Suyematsu, the Island's last Japanese American Farmer, sold his remaining acres to the City of Bainbridge Island. After his passing in 2012 at age 90, the City of Bainbridge issued a proclamation establishing August 19 as Akio Suyematsu Day. In 2016, 5.5 acres of the original family homestead, now referred to as the Suyematsu Farm Historic Property (SFHP), was listed in the Bainbridge Island Register of Historic Places by the City of Bainbridge Island. SFHP encompasses the original family homestead, including farmhouse, barn and workshops built between 1928-early 1930s, along with a picker camp which housed First Nations migrant laborers from 1950-1990s. This iconic heritage site is the last of original farms on Bainbridge Island, and the only intact pre-World War Two Japanese American farmstead and post-World War Two Picker Camp remaining in the West Puget Sound Region, with over twenty-five original structures. In November 2024, SFLA entered into an agreement with the City of Bainbridge Island to operate and manage the Suyematsu Farm Historic Property. In 2028, Suyematsu Farm will celebrate its Centennial year. SFLA is guided by Akio Suyematsu's traditions of clean living and the goal of saving a vital part of our community commons and Bainbridge Island's unique rural, historic and natural character. Today, Suyematsu Farm is the hub of Bainbridge Island's farming community and a treasured and iconic cultural asset. SFLA is a non-profit organization currently operating under the leadership of an all-volunteer working board of directors, with related professional experience and with community and family roots to this land and its stories. During 2024-2025, the Suyematsu Farm Legacy Alliance (SFLA) major accomplishments included: In November 2024, SFLA signed the first stage of an historic agreement with COBI to become the official stewards to manage and operate the SFHP. Over this period, SFLA was able to secure $193,000 in funding to complete major repairs to the original c.1930 Suyematsu farmhouse, in grants from the State of Washington, City of Bainbridge Island, Suquamish Tribe, and the Bainbridge Community Foundation. SFLA was able to initiate a series of urgent repairs to bring the Suyematsu Family farmhouse back a state of occupancy, so that we can begin the restoration work to return the original farmhouse back to its 1938-1942 period of significance. With funds from the Bainbridge Community Foundation and Suquamish Tribe, SFLA was able to replace the Farmhouse roof, repaired the chimney, and took further steps to weatherize the original Suyematsu Home. SFLA initiated a major landscaping project to clean up years of overgrowth and invasive plants around the historic site and worked with the City of Bainbridge Island to address long standing water mitigation issues on the property. SFLA was one of the featured agencies for the 2024-2025 One Call for All Campaign on Bainbridge Island, which raised in over $10,000 amongst the Island community to support our work. On August 19, SFLA organized and hosted an annual gathering on Suyematsu Farm to celebrate Akio Suyematsu Day. The gathering was attended by members of the Suyematsu Family, farmers mentored by Akio Suyematsu, members of the Japanese American and Indipino communities. It also included city and state government officials. City of Bainbridge Island Council members read aloud the City's official proclamation to help remember and honor Akio Suyematsu. Over this fiscal year, the SFLA Board of Directors developed a comprehensive, long term Management Plan for SFHP, that includes strategic development goals leading up to Suyematsu Farm's Centennial Celebration in 2028, when we are planning to fully open the site to the public. Starting in 2025, SFLA began crafting and negotiating a 15-30-year agreement with COBI to manage and operate SFHP which is on schedule to be approved and signed in first quarter of our next fiscal year.
