Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $18,333 spent. We will extend the opportunity for participation to area youth in reduced circumstances or under financial hardship, providing them with opportunities for character development, personal fitness, citizenship, STEM, and career enlightenment.
  2. The Howard & Neil Croop Award was established in 2002 to offer an award to Troop 400 Scouts who achieve the rank of Eagle Scout and intend on pursuing a post-secondary education. The award is to be used to supplement the funds each scout obtains for their post-secondary education and should not be used to reduce the amounts of any other scholarship, grant, loan, or any other financial support attained independently by the recipient. The recipient may use the award funds for anything needed to further their education. The award is funded through Troop 400 fundraising and donations in conjunction with Mars Area Scouting Association. The award is limited to a $1,000 maximum award per eligible Eagle Scout.
  3. Established in 2023 to provide adult advisors of chartered units financial relief for the additional and external training requirements for High Adventure or unit operations. Awards include reimbursement for the cost of tuition for approved specialized training classes (online or in-person).
