Governance
This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

- $49,941 spent. In 2024, we continued to work with our first cohort of five scholars to guide them through the college admissions process. We also selected our second cohort of four scholars from Dane County, WI high schools who were from low-to-middle income families and from a broad range of demographic groups underrepresented in college. Most of our scholars will be the first in their family to attend college or the first to pursue a traditional college path. Each scholar participates in our comprehensive college preparation program for their 11th and 12th grade years. Each scholar is matched with an individual ACT tutor to create a plan for improving their ACT score from a starting baseline score. Weekly instruction is then individualized to the needs of that scholar. Each scholar was also matched with an individual college counselor to research college options and work on applications. The counselors also helped the scholars to connect with opportunities to explore their academic interests through local, state, and national programs and internships. In March 2024, Galin Scholars partnered with local public libraries and Galin Education to provide an opportunity for over 200 Dane County 10th graders to take a free practice ACT at their local library on a day off from school. From April-June 2024, Galin Scholars provided the opportunity for 11 students from a local high school to take a 7-week ACT preparation course to prepare for the June 2024 ACT test. In July 2024, Galin Scholars conducted a two hour summer professional development training for twenty one K-12 program staff of a local community-based organization who work with students on college access. This training helped staff to better understand the college admissions process.
