Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Programs described in its return (4)
  1. $20,709 spent. Organized second annual "Federal Cannabis Policy Crash Course" at Providence Public Library. Over 200 attendees received a 4-hour training on cannabis law with an additional training provided the next day to a selected group. The focus was preventing future harms caused by excessive consolidation. The program simplified complex legal concepts and provided leadership training.
  2. $11,436 spent. Provided an educational series with both written and live online components recorded for later viewing. The series focused on fair banking access nonpartisan policy options to promote public health and original research on American beliefs and values regarding who should benefit from reformed policies.
  3. $8,076 spent. Continued creating producing and publishing video pieces for our "Perspectives on Global Equity" series interviewing global regulators researchers and experts. The videos addressed criminal justice worker protection and fair market structures. RTI International conducted independent research that confirmed the videos impact.

We spent $12,520 on other program expenses including producing a report on the research evaluating our educational videos which was accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal; general education and promotion about the organization and our work; gatherings with partners including state-level groups doing similar work; and traveling and presenting to conferences including the International Society for the Study of Drug Policy Anti-Monopoly Summit and Cannabis Regulators of Color Coalition Annual Symposium.
