Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $31,000 spent. The Total Life Center of Southside Virginia (TLC) provides community-based programs that address food access, health education, and social determinants of health in rural Southside Virginia. During 2025, TLC operated the HOPE Pantry, a client-choice food pantry that provided consistent access to nutritious food for individuals and families in a rural area with limited grocery store access. The pantry incorporates the SWAP (Supporting Wellness at Pantries) model to promote healthier food choices and integrates nutrition education through initiatives such as "Chat & Chew," which connects food access with practical health education. TLC also implemented the TLC Farmacy, a mobile market program designed to increase access to fresh, affordable produce in underserved communities. This program supports healthy eating habits and helps reduce the risk of chronic diseases by bringing culturally relevant foods directly into the community. In addition, TLC advanced workforce and health initiatives through its Community Health Worker (CHW) programs. CHWs provide care coordination, health education, and resource navigation, helping community members access healthcare services and address barriers related to food, housing, and transportation. Through the Healthy Homes, Healthy Lives initiative, TLC provided education and resources to address environmental health risks such as mold, lead exposure, and indoor air quality. This program equips residents with knowledge and tools to create safer and healthier living environments. Through these efforts, TLC served hundreds of individuals and families, increasing access to nutritious food, strengthening health knowledge, and expanding access to supportive services in an underserved rural community.
