Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $96,997 spent. Survivor Benefits: The JW Memorial Foundation provided needed financial benefits to 5 families of emergency responders who were killed or severely injured in the line of duty in Idaho in 2025 as a result of the following incidents: 1. In February 2025 we continued to provide assistance to the family of a firefighter who sustained a traumatic brain injury from a falling tree while fighting a wildland fire in North Central Idaho in 2024. Because of the extensive rehabilitation efforts in different locations in the country, the JW Memorial Foundation provided financial assistance to several family members to travel and secure lodging to remain near him for support while he was undergoing extensive treatment and rehabilitation in the amount of $5000.00. 2. In June 2025, three firefighters were ambushed by an armed assailant while responding to a wildland fire in Northern Idaho. Two of the firefighters died from their injuries and another was seriously injured. We provided financial assistance for living expenses to all three families for three months, for a total of $37,012.00 out of our Benefits Fund. In addition, because of the outpouring of support from the community, we acted as the passthrough for additional donations that we transferred directly to the three families, in the amount of additional assistance of $45,233.13. 3. In July 2025, a wildland firefighter was killed by a falling tree while fighting a fire in North Central Idaho. The JW Memorial Foundation provided financial assistance to her family members for travel from their home in Minnesota to Idaho immediately after her death in the amount of $9,712.07. Our intent in all cases is to begin financial assistance as quickly as possible, with minimal red tape, and in all of these incidents, we did so within one week of the occurrence.
