Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

  1. $153,010 spent. Year One established the foundation of what makes Teach From DeHart Academy truly unique and set the standard for the educational experience we envision for every student who walks through our doors. From the very beginning, we committed to creating a school culture that extends far beyond traditional academics by intentionally developing the knowledge, character, and life skills students need to thrive in an ever-changing world. Every aspect of the student experience was designed around high academic expectations, character development, leadership education, public speaking, professional communication, entrepreneurial thinking, service opportunities, career readiness, family involvement, and global awareness. Rather than viewing these elements as separate initiatives, they became interconnected components of a comprehensive educational model that prepares students for success not only in middle school but throughout high school, college, careers, and life. Students were encouraged to think critically, communicate confidently, collaborate effectively, and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Academic excellence remained a priority, but equal emphasis was placed on developing integrity, perseverance, responsibility, empathy, and resilience so students would graduate as capable leaders and compassionate citizens. One of the defining features of our first year was the successful implementation of our House System, which transformed the school into a community built on belonging, collaboration, and healthy competition. Students were placed into Houses that fostered teamwork, school pride, accountability, and mutual support while providing opportunities to earn points through academics, leadership, service, attendance, and positive character. The House System encouraged students to celebrate one another's accomplishments, support classmates during challenges, and recognize that success is strongest when achieved together. Friendly competitions, collaborative activities, and school-wide celebrations strengthened relationships across grade levels and created a culture where every student felt connected to something greater than themselves. These experiences reinforced the understanding that competition should inspire excellence while strengthening community rather than creating division. Inside the classroom, learning looked very different from the traditional model many students had previously experienced. Rather than asking students to simply memorize information or complete assignments for a grade, teachers consistently challenged them to think deeply, explain their reasoning, defend their conclusions with evidence, ask thoughtful questions, collaborate with classmates, and solve authentic problems that mirrored real-world situations. Classroom discussions encouraged respectful dialogue, active listening, and the confidence to share ideas while considering multiple perspectives. Students participated in projects that required creativity, innovation, teamwork, and critical thinking, helping them understand that meaningful learning occurs through exploration and application rather than memorization alone. Communication became a central focus across every subject area as students practiced presenting ideas, speaking professionally, writing effectively, and engaging in productive conversations with peers and adults. Leadership education was intentionally woven throughout daily instruction, empowering students to take initiative, demonstrate accountability, make ethical decisions, and recognize the positive influence they could have within their classrooms, families, and communities. Entrepreneurial thinking encouraged students to identify problems, develop creative solutions, take calculated risks, and understand the value of innovation, adaptability, and perseverance. Career readiness experiences exposed students to professions they may never have considered while helping them connect classroom learning to future opportunities and aspirations. Family involvement strengthened the partnership between home and school, reinforcing the belief that students achieve their greatest success when educators and families work together toward common goals. At the same time, global awareness activities encouraged students to broaden their perspectives, appreciate diverse cultures, and understand the interconnected world in which they live. Every lesson, activity, discussion, and experience reflected our belief that education should prepare students for far more than academic achievement. Our classrooms became places where confidence was built, leadership was cultivated, character was strengthened, and potential was discovered. By intentionally integrating rigorous academics with essential life skills, meaningful relationships, and authentic learning experiences, Teach From DeHart Academy established an educational environment where students were challenged to become thoughtful learners, effective communicators, responsible leaders, and engaged citizens. Year One laid the foundation for a school where every experience is designed with purpose, every student is encouraged to reach beyond perceived limitations, and every classroom serves as preparation not only for the next grade level but for the boardroom, the workplace, higher education, and life itself.
