Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $25,063 spent. NOTE: Program 1 and 2 are tied closely together, but Program 2 is a subset of Program 1.Program 1.) Surf Swap ProgramEach local group meets for about two hours at a specified time and day of the week at a beach or park near a local surf break. Some groups will meet at the same place each week, while others might choose the location depending on surf and weather conditions. The group coordinator will post in our Surfing Moms app with meetup details the day or so beforehand. When Surfing Moms get to the beach, they pair up with another Surfing Mom to look after each other's child/children. While the first Surfing Mom surfs, the other looks after both moms' children, then swap. This means that the first hour is for one Surfing Mom and the second is for the other. This hour includes time to get your board waxed, get your sunscreen on, get your children set up with snacks and toys, and so on. Each surfer usually ends up having about 30-45 minutes of actual surf time. Pairing up is essential so that any one Surfing Mom is only ever looking after her own children and someone else's - this keeps things manageable and safe. Safety of our children and ourselves is paramount. Group Coordinators are required to become CPR/First Aid certified if they are not already (paid for by Surfing Moms). Surf swap occurs across estimated 28 local groups.Program 2.) Maui Hee Nalu program (funded by $30,000 grant from Kaiser). During 2024, we provided: surf lessons by Maui Surf Girls, female surf therapy cohorts, counselling services with Hawaii female clinicians, support for weekly surf swaps with reciprocal childcare.Overall statistics 101 members joined Surfing Moms through the 33 surf swap meetups in 2024 Quarterly surf lessons for 21 mamas Surf therapy for 14 mamas Community-led arts and culture gatherings including lei making, paddle out, sugar museum visit, 2 yoga classes, a family non-surf meetup.
