Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (2)
  1. $185,248 spent. Neighbors Who Care NWC recruits and orients volunteers to provide nonmedical assistive services to homebound and disabled seniors allowing them to continue living and aging independently in their own homes. NWC serves a population of homebound and/or frail older adults who meet the definition of disabled under current federal law. Our 427 active volunteers provide services such as transportation to medical appointments, access to groceries or other errands, meal delivery, small home repairs, business assistance, reassurance phone calls, friendly visits, caregiver respite, and a facilitated caregiver support group. NWC also provides follow-up for vulnerable seniors upon discharge from medical facilities, receiving referrals from case workers. During the 12/31/2024 year, our volunteers supplied more than 7,500 hours of assistance, driving more than 60,000 miles to assist 467 individuals on more than 7,500 occasions, permitting them to remain in their homes for an average of five additional years. See Schedule O for the remaining description. Although not reflected in NWCs financial statements, the estimated vale of our volunteers service hours and miles driven exceeds 300,000, a sum that far exceeds NWCs total cash expenditures during the year and reflects NWCs true nature as a volunteer organization. Additionally, NWC delivered approximately 5,800 freshly made meals to shut-in seniors during the period. NWC also coordinates opportunities for clients to participate in socialization events with activities, luncheons and holiday celebrations. Clients enjoy meeting others for food, games, music fellowship and gifts. We learn that these events are often the only group gatherings that these clients experience throughout the year. NWC hosted approximately 115 clients at these events during FYE 12/31/24.
  2. $464 spent. When NWCs most vulnerable clients encounter emergency situations such as faulty air conditioners, broken hot water tanks, or other broken essential home service items, NWC established an emergency financial assistance program to fund such needs in a nimble and quick manner. During FYE 12/31/2024, NWC assisted one approved client to keep up with help in securing Maricopa County Utility Assistance and additional NWC financial assistance in addressing a mounting electric bill.
