Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (2)
  1. $6.1 million spent. With a dual mission of hunger relief and climate change mitigation, Waste Not partners with nearly 60 food donors in the Greater Phoenix area-including grocers, caterers, restaurants, resorts, and event venues-to rescue edible excess food that would otherwise go to waste. Using an efficient same-day delivery model, a team of professional drivers collects and transports an average of 10,375 pounds of food each weekday. This food is delivered to over 85 nonprofit agencies serving individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, Waste Not diverted approximately 2.7 million pounds of prepared and perishable food from landfills and delivered it to community-based organizations supporting children, adults, and seniors in need.
  2. To expand its reach and impact, Waste Not launched a food rescue app in December 2019 designed to facilitate smaller-volume donations. The app enables local restaurants, retailers, and other food businesses to post surplus food outside of regular pickup routes. A network of trained volunteer drivers receives real-time alerts, retrieves the food using their personal vehicles while following food safety protocols, and delivers it directly to agency partners best suited to distribute the donations.
