Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $974,283 spent. Safer Together was founded in November 2020. We operationalized our first public health program in March 2021, free COVID-19 testing and education for over 20,000 community members with over 100,000 tests administered across 40 test sites in San Francisco. We mitigated and prevented over 34,000 infectious chains of transmission. This successful impact is attributed to our model of hiring staff and community health workers with lived experiences from the communities we serve and from our over 30 partnerships with community based organizations, local leaders, San Francisco Unified School District, and the California Department of Public Health.Continued on Schedule O Since then, we have launched two new programs, informed by our front-line staff and our most disproportionately impacted community members and clients, Safer Air and Safer Care and have maintained our commitment to providing all of our services for free. Safer Air is our clean air, environmental justice, and asthma program that includes education on the detrimental health impacts from breathing polluted and toxic air, which we intervene against by providing air purifiers, air monitors, and in-home asthma trigger assessments for asthma prevention, management and remediation. Safer Care is our harm reduction program that is centered on a whole-person care model, from education and distribution of life-saving Naloxone/Narcan to prevent and reverse pervasive opioid overdoses, to community-led recovery from substance use disorders and mental health illnesses through our peer-led support groups and navigation to additional support, education and distribution of safe use supplies to prevent overdoses, deaths, and common disease spread such as fatal Hepatitis C, and to administering Hepatitis C tests for diagnosis and post treatment referrals. We are proud to have saved hundreds of lives from preventable asthma attacks, overdoses, and syndemic chronic diseases that are all inextricably tied to their lived experiences and too often disregarded realities.
