Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $24,938 spent. Community Supported Agriculture - Sales of fruit grown onsite to the general public through a program offering a range of fruit-box share options tailored for families or individuals. Options include a weekly fruit-box service for the full season as well as limited time-frame options for the peak harvest season. 71 fruit box shares were given, and 2077 pounds of fruit were donated.
  2. $16,149 spent. Educational Workshops - A wide range of educational workshops teaching specific and general techniques to maintain a small or home-based orchard, and shrub-based fruit and berry production. Topics include winter care and pruning, spring care, summer care and pruning, tool care, harvesting and others aimed at successful home-production of fruit and berries. Workshops are offered on a class fee basis to the general public. 35 workshops were presented with a total of 802 students attending. 24 participants were granted workshop fee waivers.
  3. $16,012 spent. Plant sales - We offer regionally appropriate, locally grown and sourced fruiting plants for sale through two seasonal events (spring/fall) and weekly on-going sales of open stock. These sales help backyard growers become self-sufficient through growing their own food for their family and friends. Our plant sales also teach our volunteers and college interns employable skills in the nursery industry.
