What it says it does

Beach Bum Philanthropy assists local shelters, social service agencies, and other non-profits that work to better the lives of people and animals in our communities. We assist by providing funds, goods and supplies, and volunteering to help these organizations provide their services to their clients. Some examples of our assistance are goods and supplies from their urgent "wish lists", homemade meals, and funds during times of critically low supplies.

Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (12)
  1. $2,687 spent. 1269 Cafe in Manchester NH serves the homeless in the community (day center, warming station, emergency shelter in the winter). This year we provided provided food products and supplies as needed (coffee, creamer, sugar, oatmeal, hot chocolate, cookies, personal care packages, feminine hygiene products, hats, gloves, etc.). Our primary donations this year were homemade baked goods (cookies, breads), meals (pasta bakes, chili, chicken bakes), and monthly dessert socials (pudding, cupcakes, ice cream, strawberry shortcake, root beer socials). Our in-person food events fed approximately 50-70 at each event. The number of people served by the center daily is a minimum of 50, can vary with weather conditions (increased during the winter months).
  2. $3,675 spent. Liberty House is a shelter and social services organization in Manchester NH that helps at-risk veterans (particularly homeless veterans, both in their shelter and those out in the elements). We provide food and supplies when critically needed. This year we provided gloves, socks, underwear, toiletries (razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap), laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, and many food pantry donations (cereal, fruit snacks, pasta, tomato sauce, oatmeal, rice, snack packs, canned vegetables, coffee, canned pasta, etc.). We also provided many hot, homebaked goods (meatballs, cookies, breads, etc.). The number of people affected depends on the number of veterans in their shelter at any given time, and the number of homeless veterans reached by the organization.
  3. $2,855 spent. The Friends Program is a family shelter in Concord, NH. This year we donated food supplies, personal items (shampoo, conditioner, diapers, diaper wipes, etc.), household goods (microwave, etc) as needed, as well as WalMart gift cards. We also provided homemade meals and desserts for the residents (homemade chicken noodle soup, chili, pasta bakes, ice cream sundaes, cookies, breads). We also started to give "Tina's Buckets of Love" (3 buckets/baskets full of starter household items) when families move out of the shelter and into permanent housing. The shelter houses several families at any given time, so the number of people affected depended on how many families were in residence at the time of each donation.
  4. $141 spent. Isaiah 58 is an organization that serves homeless and in-need individuals in the Salem NH area. We donated laundry products, toiletries, personal care products, and laundry products.
  5. $775 spent. Concord Kind is an organization in Concord NH who works hands-on with local homeless individuals, feeding them fresh meals and providing supplies and assistance. We provided fresh baked meals and side dishes for Sunday meals, as well as gift cards for McDonald's so the homeless could get food and use the facilities. We also distributed personal care items (razors, deodorants, soap, body wipes, socks, body warmers, etc) and propane canisters to individuals at Concord Kind gatherings. We purchased a coffee/drink urn and served coffee, hot chocolate, and tea to homeless individuals on weekly occasions. We also baked several meals and served them and hot drinks on Christmas Day.
  6. $57 spent. Concord Cares is an organization in Concord NH that works directly with homeless individuals. We provided food items, batteries, toilet paper, and gloves and mittens to help their clients.
  7. $52 spent. Weare Food Pantry is a community food pantry in Weare, NH. We provided food items (cereal, oatmeal, pasta, canned vegetables, canned soup, peanut butter) and paper towels.

  10. $35 spent. American Heart Association is a national organization. We made a donation for the 2025 Manchester NH walk, in memory of Beach Bum co-founder Tina Wodjyla (who passed of heart disease in December 2024)
  11. $25 spent. Boy Scouts of America is a national organization. We made a donation so that the BSA would send snacks to US servicemembers
