What it says it does
Valor Healing Farms has been created to serve the military community including veterans, active duty, caregivers, families and first responders.Through farming internships, therapeutic horticulture, sustainable gardening, animal-assisted therapy and Nature, VHF programs are designed to benefit participants in meaningful and lasting ways. Our mission is to promote mind/body well-being, mental and emotional balance, self-care skills, life skills, career opportunities, stress reduction, recovery from PTSD, and suicide prevention. We use several local farms in Ojai/Ventura County. Our long-term goal is to find a piece of land in the same area to be our permanent home. This space will be dedicated to providing participants with first-hand learning experiences that will show them: 1) how healing and growth can be found through connections to nature, gardening, animals, and healthy, nurturing experiences with other people; and, 2) how they can bring those therapeutic activities into their own

Financial health
We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance
This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Programs described in its return (4)
- $13,098 spent. Animal Assisted TherapyExperience an opportunity participating in our Gaining Ground Equine & Alpaca Program. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning is a powerful experiential modality exploring and developing healthy relationships and connection to self and others through the guidance and wisdom of horses along with a licensed therapist. Currently, we offer individual, family and group equine sessions at StandInBalance Ranch in Westlake Village. We are grateful to Dr. Val Coleman, the owner of this amazing ranch and healing herd. No horse experience necessary, all horse activities are on the ground. Horses offer metaphorical learning, mirroring the human body language and feelings of the participant. Sessions are solution oriented in order for the client to discover the best solutions for themselves. In these sessions, the benefits can include learning new coping strategies, enhancing mental health, wellness and life skills through the relationship with the horse.Alpaca herd is no longer available. VHF is working to find a replacement as this activity was proving positive to all involved. Will report success in 2026 reports.
