What it says it does
The Gilbert Baker Foundation seeks to protect and extend the legacy of Gilbert Baker, the creator of the LGBTQ Rainbow Flag, as an activist, artist, and educator. We want to record and promote the history of the creation of the Rainbow Flag and its impact on the world and educate future generations about the LGBTQ Rainbow Flag. We support and empower our mission on a collaborative level between the Foundation and allies, including the LGBTQ community and artists, organizations, educational institutions, non-profits, museums, archives, and the press. We promote this mission to the wider world beyond the LGBTQ community.

Governance

- $59,264 spent. The Gilbert Baker Foundation developed several partnerships throughout the year to share Gilbert Baker's story and the meaning of the Rainbow Flag with partners such as Absolut Vodka, The Gap, Estee Lauder, Harry's Shavers, and the GLBT Museum. The foundation also updated, maintained, and promoted its online media presence by redesigning the website and leveraging social networks to advertise events and the Gilbert Baker Memoir, RAINBOW WARRIOR. The foundation also acquired 501c3 nonprofit status and received name and signature trademarks in class 25 for clothing and fabrics to protect Gilbert Baker's story and name. We also conducted a series of interviews for our Oral History Project and a panel during the June pride season with The Generations Project and Heritage of Pride.
