Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (2)
  1. $11,000 spent. In 2023, we became a multisite operation - expanding to four locations throughout the DMV region (Hyattsville, Takoma Park, DC, and Baltimore) serving 87 students. We have also expanded our school year programming as we started weekly drumline programs at 4 different DC Public Schools serving over 112 students weekly. This year, we added a K-8 school in Baltimore City and are currently in discussions with potential donors to expand the number of schools we serve in DC and Baltimore in the 2024-25 school year. Additionally, we launched a wellness drumming initiative for veterans in the DC metro region in partnership with the Department of Veteran Affairs for Prince George's County, Maryland.
  2. $12,350 spent. As we finish our ninth year of existence, we can proudly announce that our organization has helped get 41 students into college with music scholarships. In addition, we have expanded our school residencies in Washington DC - now partnering with seven different schools, helping to create and further develop music programs in underserved communities.
