Rethink Your Food advocates for the benefits of a plant-based diet and plant-focused food system as key solutions to advancing nutrition security, and mitigating environmental concerns and animal suffering. We collaborate with Caribbean community leaders in the region and diaspora. Programs described in its return (4)
- $19,097 spent. Global outreach: Our Vegan Caribbean Kickstart online pledge program drew participants from over 20 countries, including the USA and Canada, with the majority from people living in the Caribbean region. The program is a cost-effective tool to raise awareness about the benefits of a plant-based diet to human health and to mitigating the harmful effects of climate change. The program also spotlights how plant-rich diets can help to mitigate the harmful impact of factory farms. When participants sign up, they receive an email series for three weeks with free recipes and free meal plans. The goal of the kickstart is to motivate people to eat more plant-based food by first committing to eating a plant-based diet for a specific number of weeks, and then adopting a realistic commitment that is in their reach to increase their consumption of plant-based food for an additional six months.
- $55,318 spent. Community outreach: We participated in several community outreach events by giving presentations, cooking demos and distributing fact sheets and other information that highlight the benefits of a plant-based diet. Raising awareness about the environmental and ethical concerns associated with industrial animal agriculture, including deforestation
- $21,516 spent. We collaborated with community leaders in Trinidad & Tobago by providing logistical support and covering some costs to launch the second annual Ital Food Festival. This festival gives vegan food vendors, eco-conscious small business artisans, and environmental non-profits more exposure to the community. The festival also includes speakers, activities for children, and performers by local musical artists. Speaker topics included Indigenous herbal medicine, appreciation for our forests and wildlife, deforestation, climate change and composting. Over a thousand people participated in this festival.
- $2,770 spent. General program expenses
