Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (4)
  1. $10,855 spent. The region of Sierre Leone where MOH is working is primarily a cocoa and rice farming area. Over 2000 rice farmers have approahced MOH to create a fish farm to help integrate tilapia and catfish as a second cash crop into their rice fields. Integrating fish in the rice fileds provides nutrition to the rice, destroys pests, and increases the rice yield. The fish also eat the eggs of the mosquitos that cause malaria which are laid on the standing swamp water. MOH will be tracking the project and local malaria rates weekly and monthly in the pilot villages working on the finsh and rice project. Early in 2024 MOH acquired 3 abandoned professionally dug fish breeding ponds and has started the process of growing tilapia and catfish for release into the farmers fields. The initial project is four ponds in four rice fields. This will expand to 30 ponds as each member of the pilot project digs a pond in their field. If successful, the project will be
  2. $73,025 spent. Women and children have very limited access to health care in Sierra Leone. MOH runs a monthly pop-up clinic for three days with two doctors, two lab techs, a midwife and five nurses for free care for men, women and children. All medication, medical supplies and food are free to patients. Patients attend from thirty-five villages and seven chiefdoms, often walking three-four days to be seen. The catcment population is 35,000. MOH runs a free surgery program - performing two surgeries per month and more as funds allow. MOH runs two malnutritian programs, certified by the SL government for severe and mederate acute malnutrition, which have tested over 36 patients. 2024 saw the creation of a psychiatry clinic for an initial population of 27 patients.
  3. $123,944 spent. MOH has been working with seven villages to help build a Maternity Hospital for women and children. This facility will have operating capacity, and will run on solar power. Nearby staff housing has been built, and two wells have already been dug to provide clean water to the facility and staff. In 2024 MOH funding has provided for the foundation to be poured and construction started. Villagers have made 10,000 cement blocks by hand for the construction. The villagers have donated sand, stone and unskilled labor. MOH hopes to provide enough funding in 2024 and 2025 to complete the hospital. MOH has received the approval of the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health for this project. MOH has also built a lending library for hand tools and a fully electrified power tool workshop which created furniture for the clinic. This project will also build windows, doors and furniture for the hospital.
  4. Program Service Expenses 4,450, Grants and allocations 0, Revenue 0 MOH has formed the first farmer owned cocoa farmer coop in Sierra Leone Numbering 500 members from 18 villages, with the support of MOH 11 organic cocoa nurseries have been planted. Each farmer will plant 1 acre of organic cocoa and the coop will have 500 acres worth of cocoa to sell- in 2 1/2 years, thereby obtaining the proceeds and premiums for themselves rather than giving the profits to the middlemen who take advantage of them currently. We hope to team up with Welthungerhilfe for support for this project. MOH runs 3 skills training centers for the mothers of the malnourished children to be able to support their offspring. Two are for sewing, teaching 12 of the women to become tailors for their villages. The third if for soap production and sales in an unused soap factory donated to MOH.
