What it says it does

Blue Barn Farm & Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Lane County, Oregon. We are dedicated to rescuing animals from neglect, abuse, and abandonment. Beyond providing these animals with a safe and loving environment, we foster meaningful connections between our rescued residents and the community, particularly young people. Our mission is to teach kindness, compassion, and empathy by connecting children-and all human beings-with our residents who have been rescued from lives of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Through these connections, we aim to inspire a more compassionate world for animals and people alike. Humane Education, which teaches the connection between animals, human beings and our environment is our primary instrument utilized to fulfill our purpose. By hosting private & group tours, doing outreach with schools & libraries and running our Bunnies n Books program on site, we were able to reach approximately 505 children in 2025.

Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $31,983 spent. Reading Buddies Club- 2025 launched our off site reading club at the Creswell Library. We visited twice a month with our outreach rabbit and hosted drop in children and families for an hour to encourage reading and kind connection with animals. We reached approximately 40 children at the library and logged about 10 hours. Bunnies n Books- We hosted weekly reading sessions at the farm for two hour time slots. Kids were given an introduction to the rabbits and encouraged to meet them where they were at as well as read selections from our sanctuary library. We reached approximately 81 children and their parents with this program and logged about 22 hrs. Virtual Service Project- We collaborated with 275 students at Irving Elementary which involved video lessons and participation in a service project that helped a fellow student as well as the environment. Students watched a video recorded at the farm, collected cans for the local redemption center and got a special thank you from the Blue Barn for their participation. Virtual Service Project- Six students coordinated a bake sale for the residents of the Blue Barn. They received a special video of the animals, discussing the sanctuary as a thank you. Tours- Various groups(camps, families & girl scout troops) toured the sanctuary, learning the residents' rescue stories and learned about the interconnected nature of humans, animals and our planet. (~66 youth). Community Outreach- We tabled at various events, reaching approximately 35-50 individuals of all ages. We passed out educational materials, engaged them in learning games and offered books from our reading program.
