Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $29,200 spent. The organization's programs benefit individuals in recovery. The Sober House Scholarship Program in which a qualified individual referred to the organization by a clinician or a drug court receives a minimum of one month's free rent at a certified sober home. That month of free rent provides the individual the time to obtain employment and generate the income necessary for them to pay the rent on their own. The sober home provides them with the structure that is necessary for them to succeed. In calendar year 2023 the organization provided subsidies to 62 applicants. There is no way to measure success in the traditional data driven approach. Once they leave the Sober Home, we lose contact with many of them. Relapse if fairly common. Our "accomplishment" is providing them the opportunity. Our Night of Hope is held on the Town Common in Lynnfield, MA. It attracts on average 500 people. The Middle School and High School age children are well represented. We have a short march from the Middle School and proceed to the Town Common. We have two main speakers. One more targeting the parents and the other targeting the youngsters. It's been well received by the community and has been the catalyst for open discussion about the disease. We also support the after school and summer programs at the North Shore Recovery High School where students ages 14 to 19 are offered extra curricula activities that expose them to a sense of community while experiencing enjoying themselves in a sober environment. We also support the Ruth Kelly Recovery Home where typically 14 or so mothers in recovery are housed along with their children. Typically, there are about 18 children housed with their mothers. In December we fund the Annual Christmas Party where each child receives gifts and the families enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner. Lastly, we provide supportive services to individuals in recovery in the form of sponsoring tournaments and various events designed to bring individuals in recovery together to not only enjoy the event but also provide them an opportunity to realize how many people are in recovery and doing well for themselves.
