What it says it does

The Kevin C. Kynock Foundation brings communities without traditional access to the arts into transformative, immersive cultural experiences to create a more compassionate and artistic future. By connecting community cultural organizations with young audiences hungry for new experiences, we are fostering connection across pre-existing historic barriers. Our initiatives allow teachers, schools, and community groups to thoughtfully add arts experiences to their educational programming, while simultaneously supporting local arts organizations and creating pathways for future audiences. With a focus on immersive, holistic arts experiences, our programs offer transformative encounters with live performance, with many experiencing it for the very first time.

Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (4)
  1. The Kynock Foundation funded 7 separate Kynock Immersion trips for two of our education partners in 2025. In these trips, the Kynock Foundation worked with our partners from beginning to end to ensure all needs are met. The Foundation will take care of purchasing and distributing tickets. In 2025, more than 246 students from communities in Greater Boston benefited from the program including Lowell, Lawrence, Brockton, and Boston. The trips included Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Triumph of Love at the Huntington Theatre, Ja Ja's African Hair Braiding at the Speakeasy Stage, Tafuta! A Young Child's Search for the True Meaning of Kwanzaa, Hamilton at the Boston Opera House, and Wonder the Musical at the American Repertory Theatre.
  2. The Kynock Foundation believes a single experience with the arts can create an interest and passion that will last a lifetime. Our artist-in-residence visits are designed to bring artists of all kinds to schools where we can turn classrooms into artistic spaces for a day. In 2025, we brought a renowned Brazilian filmmaker to present his work at Esperanza Academy in Lawrence, MA.
  3. Each year, the Foundation supports a scholarship for a student who displays leadership in the Arts at Boston College High School. Kevin Kynock, the organization's namesake, taught at BC High for four decades. A Kynock Scholar not only excels in music, theater or Fine Arts, but is committed to sharing their passions with his fellow students and helping them develop their own commitment to the Arts.
  4. Kevin Kynock was a devoted follower of the Bard. He spent time as a fellow at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Each fall at Boston College High School, he staged a Shakespearean play for his theater students. With their ability to have large casts and few female roles, they were an ideal inclusive introduction to theater each year. When Kevin passed away in 2007, a group of his former students pooled their money to put Kevin's name in the program. Today, the Kynock Foundation continues that tradition by making a donation to the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company to support its youth apprenticeship programs.
