Programs described in its return (1)
- $543,266 spent. During the year, Hypopara Association significantly expanded its patient support, advocacy, research, and global outreach initiatives. The organization launched a new Genetic Testing Program focused on bringing cascade genetic testing directly to patients and their families. The first three cohorts served families in rural communities, where access to specialized healthcare providers and genetic testing resources is often limited. The Association also hosted its annual patient conference, which achieved record attendance and expanded patient support efforts through the introduction of a scholarship program. Scholarships were awarded to 12 patients and caregivers to improve access to educational and support opportunities. In addition, the organization established a new Legacy Award honoring the memory and values of founder James Sanders, recognizing three individuals who exemplified his commitment to compassion, advocacy, and community leadership. Hypopara Association increased its international presence by attending its first European Endocrine Society meeting in Copenhagen, strengthening global partnerships and awareness efforts. The organization also officially established a Canadian chapter and worked collaboratively with Canadian regulatory stakeholders to advance a hypoparathyroidism treatment through the initial stages of the approval process in Canada. To further advance research and patient advocacy, the Association conducted a survey of 347 patients, representing the largest patient survey in the hypoparathyroidism community to date. The organization engaged a scientific writer to analyze the findings and support preparation for publication, contributing valuable patient-centered data to the broader medical and scientific community.
