Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (5)
  1. $19,016 spent. Youth and Adult Rites of Passage- These are nine-day, gender-separate wilderness trips that provide a meaningful and effective transition from childhood to young adulthood. Led by skilled guides and a team of trained volunteer mentors, programs include a series of challenges and learning opportunities addressing the physical, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual aspects of a young persons life. There are nine months of mentorship post the rite of passage experience. Adult rites of passage or vision quests are similar in content, though more spacious in schedule to allow for the greater variety of age and stage transition an adult may be passing through.
  2. Trainings- Cascadia Quest offers several fee and no cost trainings in the core practices of rites of passage work. These include a council facilitation training for mentors, The Art of Mirroring (witnessing and reflecting the essence of stories), and a year-long wilderness leaders training, The Four Seasons of Leadership.
  3. Grief Ceremonies- These are day-long, cathartic workshops to delve into and release the wide variety of feelings associated with grief.
  4. Nature Magic is a summer day camp for girls aged 10-13 that helps introduce them to the magic in nature and inside themselves through nature exploration, games, art and song.
  5. Tending Male Fire is a 4 day wilderness retreat for men the focuses on grief, anger and power. It has rapidly become one of Cascadia Quest's most popular and impactful programs.
