Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (4)
  1. $83,523 spent. THIS PAST YEAR THE FILM COMMISSIONER AND STAFF MANAGED FORTY-THREE INQUIRIES IN HUMBOLDT COUNTY AND FOURTEEN INQUIRES IN DEL NORTE COUNTY. BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTIES THERE WERE EIGHT ADDITIONAL SCOUTING VISITS FOR VARIOUS FILMING INTERESTS. THE COMMISSIONER MANAGED VISITS FROM MANY PRODUCTION COMPANIES, ASSISTING THEM TO SEE VARIOUS POTENTIAL LOCATION SHOOTS IN BOTH COUNTIES. THIS ACTIVITY RESULTED IN SIXTEEN DIFFERENT COMMERCIAL AND FILM SHOOTS OVER THE PAST YEAR BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTIES, INCLUDING ONE VERY LARGE MAJOR MOTION PICTURE. ESTIMATED REVENUE BROUGHT INTO THE COUNTIES DUE TO FILMING ACTIVITY WAS ESTIMATED TO EXCEED $2 MILLION DOLLARS, HOWEVER FINAL AMOUNTS HAVE NOT YET BEEN RECEIVED FROM THE MAJOR MOTION PICTURE THAT WAS FILMED IN HUMBOLDT COUNTY. THIS PAST YEAR THE FILM COMMISSIONER HAS CONTINUED TO WORK WITH THE CALIFORNIA (STATE) FILM COMMISSION, HELPING TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF BOTH HUMBOLDT AND DEL NOTE COUNTIES TO THE FILM INDUSTRY.
  2. $97,643 spent. THE HUMBOLDT-DEL NORTE FILM COMMISSION SPONSORED THE THIRD ANNUAL HARVEST MOON FESTIVAL. THIS EVENT IS FUNDED USING A SPECIFIC ALLOCATION FROM HUMBOLDT COUNTY WITH ASSISTANCE FROM NEW SPONSORS AS WELL THIS YEAR. THE EVENT CONTINUES TO GROW INTO A MUCH LARGER FESTIVAL AND IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TO GROW EACH YEAR. THIS FESTIVAL IS FOCUSED ON STAR WARS ACTIVITIES AND TIED TO THE START WARS FILMING THAT TOOK PLACE LOCALLY. THERE ARE MULTIPLE VENUES AND ACTIVITIES FOR ATTENDEES THAT INVOLVE BOTH HUMBOLDT AND DEL NORTE COUNTIES. THIS EVENT BRINGS OUTSIDE REVENUE TO BOTH COUNTIES THROUGH "STAR WARS" TOURISM WITH THOUSANDS OF VISITORS ENJOYING BOTH LODGING AND DINING FACILITIES. EXPENSES FOR THE FILM COMMISSION FOR THIS FESTIVAL WERE OFFSET BY FUNDING FROM HUMBOLDT COUNTY. EXPENSES ARE LISTED UNDER FUNDRAISING IN PART IX.
  3. $405 spent. THE HUMBOLDT-DEL NORTE FILM COMMISSION HAS CONTINUED IT'S SUPPORT OF LOCAL AND TOURISM KNOWLEDGE OF "LOCAL FILM SPOTS" BY PROVIDING INPUT AND SUPPLIES FOR THE MAP-OF-THE-MOVIES MAP. THESE MAPS ARE AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT HUMBOLDT AND DEL NORTE COUNTIES AND PROVIDE LOCATIONS WITHIN THE COUNTIES OF PAST FILMING ACTIVITY. ALL OF THE LOCATIONS ALSO HAVE A SPECIAL MARKER LISTING THE MOVIE FILMED AND THE YEAR. THE HUMBOLDT-DEL NORTE FILM COMMISSION ALSO CONTINUES TO SPONSOR A MOVIES-IN-THE-PARK PROGRAM, DESIGNED TO PROVE A FAMILY MOVIE EXPERIENCE IN A COMMUNITY PARK. BOTH OF THESE ACTIVITIES TYPICALLY HAVE MINIMAL EXPENSES/REVENUE SO THEY HAVE BEEN COMBINED HERE. ANY EXPENSES (MINIMAL) ARE LISTED UNDER FUNDRAISIGN IN PART IX.
  4. $6,991 spent. THE HUMBOLDT-DEL NORTE FILM COMMISSION TYPICALLY SPONSORS A "RED CARPET GALA", DESIGNED TO PROVIDE A FUN EVENING FOR HUMBOLDT COUNTY RESIDENTS TO ENJOY WATCHING THE OSCARS WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
