Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $207,752 spent. We are dedicated to maintaining and restoring the historic Volant Mills original stone milling of local organic grains. Thanks to awarded grants, we have successfully restored the circa 1900 grain milling equipment. Additionally, dam restoration grants have funded a new control gate structure essential for monitoring water flow. The county economic development corporation and local politicians are actively assisting us in securing further grants for the complete restoration of the dam. This restoration will enable the dam to generate hydroelectric power, providing on-site electricity and allowing us to sell surplus energy back to the local utility company. This renewable energy initiative serves as an educational model for local schools, highlighting the importance of sustainable practices and a green-conscious society.
  2. $16,000 spent. We have established a vibrant forum to support and encourage local Amish craftsmen in the production and sale of their goods, including handcrafted furniture, rugs, quilts, and other home furnishings, as well as organic home-baked and canned goods. Our initiative provides essential small business startup services and facilities, along with expert advice from experienced local retailers to guide new entrepreneurs. Furthermore, we are committed to creating employment opportunities for older and disabled workers, fostering an inclusive and supportive community.
  3. $15,500 spent. We have developed and maintained a two-acre community park, featuring a spacious parking lot that serves both the downtown shopping district and the local Volunteer Fire Department for their occasional events. The park boasts a childrens playground and a trout fishing stream, which is a favorite spot for local fly fishermen. Additionally, the park includes a large lawn that residents frequently use as an off-leash exercise area for pets, and a sloping hillside that is perfect for sled riding during the winter months. This park provides a valuable recreational space for the community, promoting outdoor activities and community engagement.
