THIS IS ACHIEVED THROUGH AN EXCEPTIONAL SUMMER CAMP EXPERIENCE AND YEAR-LONG PROGRAMMING, INCLUDING SOCIAL WORK SUPPORT, FOR CAMPERS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 11 AND 14, LEADERS-IN-TRAINING BETWEEN THE AGES OF 15 AND 17, AND THEIR FAMILIES.

LITS BECOME A PART OF THE TEAM RESPONSIBLE FOR RUNNING THE UPCOMING SUMMER CAMP. WE WILL TALK ABOUT IMPORTANT LIFE SKILLS LIKE WRITING RESUMES, INTERVIEWING, DRESSING FOR SUCCESS, ETC. DURING THE SUMMER, THE LIT PROGRAM FEATURES TWO MAIN COMPONENTS, INCLUDING AN EDUCATION PIECE AND ON-THE-JOB TRAINING. IN ADDITION TO DAILY CLASSROOM TIME (75 MINUTES EACH DAY, ALTERNATING BETWEEN MATH AND ENGLISH), LITS PARTICIPATE IN REGULAR FIELD TRIPS, MEET WEEKLY WITH STAFF TO FORMULATE GOALS AND MONITOR THEIR PROGRESS, AND RECEIVE A STIPEND FOR THEIR EFFORTS IN ASSISTING THE CAMP PROGRAM. 17-YEAR OLDS ALSO COMPLETE TWO-WEEK INTERNSHIPS AT LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE CITY. MONTHLY MEETINGS ANDREGULAR CHECK-INS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR HELP TO FURTHER SUPPORT THEIR GROWTH AND SUCCESS.
