Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (2)
  1. $296,016 spent. The 53 acre property is open to the public seven days a week year round. The gardens, grounds and trails are maintained at a high level of grooming and in 2024 drew about 10,500 paid visitors. Meerkerk's specialty is species and hybrid rhododendrons, along with an extensive display of companion plants, specimen trees, perennials, and native woodland plants. We offer education opportunities for the public on rhododendrons, gardening, native plants, botany, and the natural environment through school programs for youth, family-oriented activities, workshops and classes for adults, and tours for visitors of all ages and abilities.
  2. Meerkerk Gardens promotes the use of native plants and rhododendrons through our gardens; our nursery, which offers a wide range of these plants for sale, including hard to find specimens that we propagate from our own collection; the Washington State State Flower (native rhododendron) license plate program; and a grant program.
