Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $569,432 spent. Girls served: Girls on the Run of the Bay Area served 623 girls in Fall 2024, and 971 for Spring 2025 in five Bay Area counties. We totaled 123 teams, 470 volunteer coaches and celebrated the 5K with over 1,240 running buddies. Over 70% of our participants received scholarship funding and we provided hundreds of running shoes for girls who were unable to afford a new pair so they could run safely. Programs: We introduced two new curriculums - Hello, Superstar! And Hello, Mountain Mover!, which were well received by students, coaches and caregivers. Girls were served in the following counties: Alameda County & Contra Costa Counties 52%, 11% in Marin, 25% in SF County and 12% in San Mateo County. Community Support: 470 coaches volunteered during the two seasons. We also received assistance from 25 associate board members and 16 executive board members who were able to attend the 5K fun runs at Marina Park in San Leandro. In addition, over 500 volunteers helped us with our two 5K events. And we enjoyed several interns who assisted with social media postings and other projects during the year. Completion of the Program: With small team sizes (a ratio of 3.5 adult coaches/junior coaches per team), the GOTRBA program has a high completion rate and 96% of girls attended the Girls on the Run 5Ks. Our annual quantitative survey noted that the participant experience at Girls on the Run (GOTR) programs was overwhelmingly positive, with high levels of enjoyment and feelings of inclusion reported. Key areas of learning included teamwork, confidence, and the importance of physical activity. 80% of participants felt they had fun at GOTR 86% felt included in all activities. 76% reported that their coaches cared about them. 91% of participants felt ready for the end-of-season 5K. 66% liked physical activity due to GOTR/H&S. 57% felt more confident because of their participation.
