Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $117,309 spent. The Association provides cross-country ski education, coaching, training and race development skills to junior skiers (under 20 years of age) from the Truckee, Lake Tahoe and surrounding area. This has been accomplished through assistance to local junior and high school programs along with the issuance of grants and scholarships to deserving junior skiers. Far West has also helped to field regional junior teams that compete at the national and international levels.
  2. $454 spent. The masters program sponsors the Masters Challenge which consists of two fun and challenging season-long race series that identify Far Wests most consistently fast Senior and Master racers (in other words, skiers age 20 and above). The Master's Challenge is open to all Far West members and benefits skiers in the Truckee, Lake Tahoe and surrounding Northern California and Northern Nevada areas.
