What it says it does

The Sebastian Exchange Club Foundation (The Foundation)was founded in 2000 to further the education of deserving graduates of Sebastian River High School. The High School guidance department makes our scholarship application available to all senior students. We require a tax return or other proof of income to accompany the application. The Foundation forms a small committee of at least four concerned local individuals who independently review all of the applications and then meet to decide which applicants are most deserving. The committee looks for hard working students with good grades who truly need financial assistance. We do not discriminate based on race, color, creed or gender. The scholarship can be used to attend any four-year college or university or junior or community college or trade school for a post high school education leading to a degree, trade or profession.

Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (4)
  1. The Foundation makes grants to deserving local organizations to support the prevention of child abuse and other youth oriented activities.
  2. $740 spent. Exchange club volunteers held a one-day childrens fishing outing for local children. Each child got to keep a fishing pole, T-shirt, hat and lunch. Trophies were awared in several categories.
  3. The foundation has provided scholarships to deserving high school graduates since 2000. We provide $1,000 to $2,000 scholarships to several individuals every year.
  4. The Foundation recognized outstanding students from our local middle schools and our high school through our student of the month program. We invite 2 students from each school together with school administrators and 2 family members to a luncheon where each student's achievments are read aloud. The most deserving students receive college scholarships.
