Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (5)
  1. $208,888 spent. In 2024, South Florida Baptist Hospital (SFBH) and the South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation (SFBHF) truly had one priority, to open a brand-new hospital to replace our existing legacy hospital. The existing hospital had served the community for the last 70 years, but the need for expansion had outgrown the original location. So, BayCare Health System approved a $326M new hospital to be built in the Plant City Community. We broke ground in 2021 and opened August 10, 2024. Even though the entire capital expense was the responsibility of BayCare the SFBHF raised over $5,000,000 (2022 - 2024) to support the hospital's departments and to provide innovative new medical equipment. Continued on Schedule O As the new hospital opened, leadership determined that they needed to evaluate the hospital's needs for support from SFBHF once the move was complete. As a result, some of the larger planned grants to the hospital were temporarily delayed until the evaluation could be completed, resulting in fewer grants to SFBH than normal. Our most significant program expense was $166,360 to design and install new recognition walls and room plaques in the new hospital to recognize our many generous and valued donors. In addition, we invited our donors to a very special dinner of thanks and recognition and the chance to have a first look at our new hospital and what the next 70 years may look like.
  2. $15,118 spent. The Foundation Board of Directors approved $7,832 in scholarship programs to support education and training awards for deserving high school students and hospital team members. These awards are used to pursue college degrees in health-related fields, nursing degrees and to attend conferences to advance skill sets. Additionally, the Foundation continued to provide support to team members in need through the Team Member Emergency Assistance fund. In 2024, $4,208 in grants were made on behalf of team members in financial need.
  3. $14,823 spent. In 2024, the Foundation Board of Directors continued to support the Wellness on Wheels program with a $10,000 grant. This program, which is funded by the Foundation's annual Children's Classic Golf Tournament, brings medical care to the community, serving communities that are most at risk and in need. Additionally, another $1,805 was used to purchase furniture and accessories for the Cancer Resource Center.
  4. $5,822 spent. South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation offers a program titled Patient Experience Grant. It is a grant awarded to hospital departments that are applied for by hospital team members. They may apply for funding up to $5,000 for equipment, supplies or a program that will improve the patient experience in their area. This program has been in place since 2016. The funding is provided by the annual team member giving campaign, Together We Make A Difference! In 2024 the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department was awarded $4,637 for a Birthing Simulator. This program gives team members an opportunity to secure financial support for services for their patients. It's a great way to build relationships with the team and support their priorities with Foundation dollars.
