Programs described in its return (3)
- $155,542 spent. Reach Langley provides permanent supportive housing with onsite services conveniently located on the Langley Street Campus. The program offers safe, stable housing for 30 of Jackson's formerly homeless individuals. Each unit is a furnished one-room home that includes a bed, television, couch, refrigerator, and desk. An onsite cook prepares hot lunch and dinner Monday through Friday, and residents have access to an onsite medical office staffed by a resident nurse. Case managers work individually with each tenant to develop and achieve short- and long-term goals that promote stability and self-sufficiency. Throughout 2024, Reach Langley maintained an average occupancy rate of approximately 70 percent while continuing to serve individuals with significant barriers to housing stability. The campus also strengthened its collaborative service model by bringing additional nonprofit and community organizations onsite to provide wraparound support. These partners offered residents access to health care, financial literacy, workforce training, mental health services, and life-skills development - all without residents having to leave the campus.
- $299,622 spent. The Yellow House, established in 2022 as a Maternity Group Home, provides temporary housing and support services to expectant and parenting youth ages 16 to 22 who are experiencing homelessness in the Jackson, Mississippi area. The program utilizes a Holistic Trauma-Informed Care approach to help young mothers build the skills and confidence needed to make lasting positive changes in their lives. In 2024, The Yellow House continued to provide safe housing along with basic necessities such as food, clothing, and transportation support. Residents participated in life-skills training, financial literacy workshops, counseling, and parenting classes designed to promote stability and self-sufficiency. The program also connected participants to higher education and job-training opportunities to support long-term independence. During 2024, JRC strengthened its collaborative service model by bringing other nonprofit and community organizations onsite to offer counseling, educational resources, and wraparound support. This comprehensive approach provides the foundational building blocks for each young mother's development, learning, and overall well-being throughout her lifetime.
