Governance
This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

- $87,632 spent. Artspace utilized its 2335 square foot gallery space for exhibitions of visual art that would otherwise not be shown in the Richmond, VA area. Dozens of our art exhibitions were selected primarily by our Exhibition Committee. Some of these exhibitions featured a solo artist and others featured the combined efforts of multiple artists (joint exhibitions). One joint exhibit featured works by artist alumni of Virginia Atelier in Paris. The exhibit from August 23 through September 21 showcased visual art, poetry, and music from artist residents of prestigious Cite internationale des arts. Artspace also hosted group exhibitions of artwork by our artist members which featured the work of several dozen artists. Our biennial Members Show was one such exhibition. Artspace also held exhibitions featuring calls (around the state and region) for entry where the artwork was selected by independent (of Artspace) judges. One such juried show was the latest installment of our Biennial Regional Juried Exhibition, Radius 250, open to artists within 250 miles of Richmond.
- Artspace exhibition space was also provided to community art organizations. These exhibitions were selected by our Partnerships and Programming committee. Artspace hosted regular monthly events of poetry, music, and art. Each first Saturday of the month, Slam Richmond met at Artspace beginning at 5:30PM for a writer's workshop and open mic at 8:00PM, offered free and open to the public. Each second Monday of the month, jazz performances by musicians from Out of Your Head Records were offered at 7:30PM free or at a low cost to the public. At 2:00PM on the Saturday following the opening reception of exhibitions, our exhibitors provided artist talks about their artwork, techniques, and inspirations, all free and open to the public. Additionally, Artspace hosted a monthly Community Art Day on the first Saturday of the month at 1:00PM where the public was invited to make art inspired by the exhibitions on view at the gallery. Materials were provided and no fees were charged. The gallery also added a morning monthly Figure Drawing class in addition to our evening class with donations taken at the door.
- In addition to our monthly art events, Artspace presented musical concerts, such as "In the Round," that featured Steve Bassett, BJ Kocen, Justin Laughter, and Willie Williams performing together on September 25. We provided space for artist workshops. One such workshop, Art Playshop - Paint Inspired by Monet's Garden at Giverny, provided a guided painting experience for those with no previous art experience, with all materials provided by workshop organizers. Additionally, our Programming and Partnerships Committee continued collaborating with two local organizations to create satellite shows featuring our members' artwork at Natalie's Taste of Lebanon restaurant (seasonal shows) and at Boyd Realty Group (monthly shows with an opening reception on the same night as our gallery exhibitions).
