Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $993,748 spent. In 2025, all AYUDA programs began on schedule, including Youth Empowerment, YAS (Youth After-School Programs), Mental Health Counseling in Public Schools, CDBG Program, Elderly socialization classes and the Here for You Elder Program. Teens Are Lifelong Learners (TALL) AYUDA, in collaboration with The Childrens Trust, Scott Rakow Youth Center, and North Shore Park, developed the Teens Are Lifelong Learners (TALL) program. This program serves youths in grades 6 through 12 and is designed to empower and educate participants through life skills training. The TALL program is a youth enrichment initiative serving at-risk middle and high school students, including youth with disabilities. The goal of TALL is to improve the lives of participants through life and social skills training, academic support, and enrichment activities so that the youth of Miami Beach may lead successful and self-sufficient lives in the future. TALL utilizes the Positive Action curriculum, an evidence-based program that helps youth make connections among their thoughts, actions, feelings, and well-being through dynamic and interactive activities. These activities encourage participants to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The program includes social-emotional learning, academic support, and enrichment activities such as soccer, martial arts, sport dance, STEM, Zumba, pickleball, volleyball, and visual arts. During the school year, the after-school program operates: At Scott Rakow Youth Center for high school students on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. At North Shore Park for middle school students on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. During the summer, the program is held at Scott Rakow Youth Center from Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In 2025, the program served 100 youth and their family members, for a total of 300 clients. At least 20% of participants were children with disabilities. Here for You Elderly Advocacy and Support Program: This Elderly Services Program provides social services to adults age 60 and older. The goals of the program are to assist older adults in maintaining their independence within the community; improve their nutritional status; enhance their quality of life; provide support and security; and provide caregivers with assistance and relief so they may continue providing care. This supportive program helps reduce isolation and prevent depression. In 2025, the program served and positively impacted 22 older adults, their family members, and members of their surrounding communities, for a total of 44 clients. Mental Health Counseling: This program is funded by Miami-Dade County Public Schools and is intended to support the Districts Mental Health Assistance Plan. Miami-Dade County Public Schools is the nations fourth-largest school district, serving more than 345,000 students. AYUDA has been contracted to provide mental health services to students in need. Services are delivered through both telehealth and in-person sessions for Miami-Dade County Public Schools students ages 5 through 18. Youth are evaluated and counseled by Licensed Mental Health Counselors. Incidents involving suicide risk, depression, anxiety, and violence were identified and referred for appropriate intervention, and serious incidents were prevented. In 2025, AYUDA provided 5,508.5 hours of individual counseling, parent consultation, and family counseling services. Community Development Block Grant Program: The CDBG Senior Deep Cleaning Assistance Program provides essential in-home deep cleaning services to low-income older adults with limited mobility who do not have family or caregiver support. Many of these seniors are unable to safely maintain their homes, placing them at increased risk of falls, illness, and social isolation. Through this program, seniors receive comprehensive cleaning services that help restore a safe, sanitary, and dignified living environment. By addressing conditions that seniors cannot manage on their own, the program improves health and well-being, supports independent living, and enables older adults to remain safely in their homes and communities. In 2025, the program provided 534 hours of deep cleaning services to seniors in need. Senior Living Housing Wellness and Enrichment Program AYUDA provides weekly wellness and enrichment activities for residents of a 150-unit low-income senior living housing community. Every Thursday, residents are offered free classes designed to promote physical health, emotional well-being, social connection, and lifelong learning. Classes include art, Senior Fit, yoga, mindfulness, and mythology. These activities provide residents with opportunities to remain active, stimulate their minds, express creativity, and reduce feelings of isolation. Following each class, participants are served a complete meal that includes vegetables, fruit, protein, and dessert to support proper nutrition and encourage social interaction. In 2025, a total of 30 classes were provided. For many residents, this program is the only weekly recreational and social activity available to them. The program plays a critical role in improving quality of life, reducing loneliness, and helping seniors remain engaged and connected within their community. Partnerships: AYUDA partners with surrounding cities, foundations, private businesses, individual donors, stakeholders and government agencies, all which help support and fund the programs. Volunteers: Throughout the year, speakers and other volunteers give their time in the teen and elder program as well as those that serve on the board.
