Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $17,599 spent. Flower Beds & Bulbs: Provide flowers and distribute bulbs to community & neighborhood organizations, other Keep America Beautiful affiliates, and other North Carolina cities for landscaping and flower beds. Distributed 50,000 bulbs (valued at $9,000) in December 2024 and January 2025. Conducted annual flower bed competition for organizations and individuals in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, NC.
  2. $11,717 spent. Tree Planting and Landscape Projects: Includes two components. First, an annual tree planting ("Community Roots Day") in one or more neighborhoods using community volunteers. In FY 224-25, 120 trees were planted in public rights-of-way, specifically in areas of the city that were classified as underserved and lacked a poor tree canopy. Additionally, 200 more trees were given out to neighborhood groups during educational sessions regarding the importance of trees and environmental stewardship. Second, a cooperative effort with neighborhood organizations and the Winston-Salem Foundation to establish and maintain landscape planting areas in public rights-of-way at key neighborhood locations. For FY 24-25, these locations included County Club Rd, Buena Vista, Rupert Bell, Minnie Lee David Harris, Miller Park (and others), neighborhood entrances, Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools, and city fairgrounds.
  3. $6,537 spent. Community Clean Ups: Coordinate volunteers to clean waterways, streets, parking lots, school grounds, and parks at annual events (Great American Clean Up and Big Sweep) and in ongoing site adoption programs.
