Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $2.2 million spent. THE TRIANGLE UNITED SOCCER ASSOCIATION ["TUSA"] PROVIDED CHARACTER AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT FOR APPROXIMATELY 3,306 CHILDREN AGED 4-18 IN YOUTH SOCCER BY FORMING TEAMS, PROVIDING TRAINED COACHES, RENTING AND MAINTAINING FIELDS. TUSA SEEKS TO PROVIDE THE BEST POSSIBLE SOCCER EXPERIENCE FOR YOUTH IN THE NORTH CAROLINA WESTERN TRIANGLE AREA, WITH A PRIMARY FOCUS ON DURHAM, CHAPEL HILL AND WESTERN WAKE COUNTY. THIS IS ACHIEVED THROUGH AN EMPHASIS ON SPORTSMANSHIP, TEAM VALUES, AND WORK ETHIC, WHILE KEEPING IN MIND THE EXPERIENCE SHOULD BE FUN FOR EACH YOUTH PLAYER AND HIS/HER FAMILY. A STATED GOAL OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO OFFER EVERY PLAYER THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN AND ENJOY THE GAME, DEVELOP SKILLS, AND IF DESIRED AND QUALIFIED, ADVANCE TO THE NEXT COMPETITIVE LEVEL WHILE PLAYING IN HIS/HER OWN COMMUNITY. THE ORGANIZATION IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING AN OVERALL HIGH-QUALITY, HIGH-VALUE SPORTS EXPERIENCE FOR PLAYERS AND PARENTS, NOT DEFINED SOLELY IN TERMS OF WINNING. WE ASPIRE TO BE KNOWN AS AN ORGANIZATION OF PROFESSIONAL INTEGRITY WITH GREAT COACHES WHO STRIVE TO CONDUCT THEMSELVES AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF SPORTSMANSHIP. TUSA RECOGNIZES, RESPECTS AND SUPPORTS THAT:* CHILDREN'S PARTICIPATION IN A TEAM SPORT IS ABOUT MUCH MORE THAN WINNING GAMES. IT IS AN AVENUE FOR LEARNING LESSONS AND VALUES WHICH WILL HELP THEM GROW INTO RESPONSIBLE, PRODUCTIVE AND WELL-ROUNDED PEOPLE. DISCIPLINE, WORK ETHIC, TEAMWORK, DEALING WITH ADVERSITY, AND HANDLING LOSSES AND WINS APPROPRIATELY AND CONSTRUCTIVELY ARE EMPHASIZED. * SOCCER IS AN AVENUE FOR A LIFELONG INVOVLEMENT IN SPORTS.* SOCCER IS ONE OF MANY PRIORITIES AND ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR PARENTS, AND NOT ALWAYS OR NECESSARILY THE MOST IMPORTANT.* PARENTS ARE ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL ASPECTS OF THE WELL-BEING OF THEIR CHILDREN.TUSA ALSO RECOGNIZES THAT THERE WILL BE SOME PLAYERS WHOSE GOAL IS TO PLAY AT AN ELITE LEVEL, FOR EXAMPLE, IN COLLEGE OR PROFESSIONALLY. TUSA WILL SUPPORT AND PROMOTE THESE PLAYERS TO THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF COMPETITION; HOWEVER, THE ORGANIZATION ALSO RECOGNIZES THAT MOST PLAYERS WILL NOT ASCEND TO PLAY ELITE-LEVEL SOCCER SO IT IS THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY MISSION TO TEACH AND PROMOTE SOCCER IN A COMPETITIVE AND FUN WAY.STAFF AND COACHES IN TUSA ARE FAIRLY COMPENSATED AND EXPECTED TO MAINTAIN A PROFESSIONAL STANDARD OF CONDUCT AND PERFORMANCE. TUSA WILL FOSTER, ENCOURAGE, AND SUPPORT THE COACHES AND STAFF IN THEIR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. TUSA SEEKS TO ENSURE THE TECHNICAL COMPETENCE OF ITS STAFF AND COACHES BY URGING EACH TO OBTAIN APPROPRIATE LEVEL OF STATE OR NATIONAL COACHING LICENSING.THE ORGANIZATION ALSO ENCOURAGES PARENTS TO ACTIVELY TAKE PART IN GOVERNANCE OF TUSA AND EXPECTS PARENTS TO BE INVOLVED WITH THE MANAGEMENT OF THE TEAM FOR WHICH THEIR CHILDREN PLAY. ABOVE ALL, WHEN PARTICIPATING IN OR ATTENDING TUSA ACTIVITIES, PARENTS ARE EXPECTED TO SERVE AS ROLE MODELS FOR THEIR CHILDREN, REFLECTING THE VALUES OF TUSA AND RECOGNIZING THAT THEIR BEHAVIOR RELFECTS ON TUSA. IN MANY WAYS PARENTS ARE "GOODWILL AMBASSADORS" OF TUSA.PLAYERS ARE THE MOST VISIBLE REPRESENTATIVES OF TUSA AND CONSIDERED THE FACES OF THE ORGANIZATION, SO THEY ARE EXPECTED TO REPRESENT TUSA IN THE BEST POSSIBLE MANNER - ON AND OFF THE FIELD AND WHETHER OR NOT THEY MAY BE WEARING A TUSA UNIFORM. ALL PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO BEHAVE AND CARRY THEMSELVES ACCORDINGLY AS WELL AS DISPLAY A HIGH LEVEL OF SPORTSMANSHIP.
