Programs described in its return (2)
- $1.0 million spent. Seniors Unlimited Lifestyles, Inc received a grant from the Virginia Beach Department of Housing & Preservation which was used to pay for the land to develop a second unit of apartments which will be known as Tranquility Lakes II. That building will provide 38 affordable apartments for seniors: 32 single bedroom and 6 double bedroom units. A groundbreaking ceremony was held June 16 at the location hosted by Seniors Unlimited Lifestyles, Inc and the Virginia Beach Community Develpment Corporation. Many of the current residents rent is subsidized and we anticipate the same for the additional residents. The occupancy is estimated to begin in July 2026.
- $51,677 spent. In partnership with Community Housing Partners, construction of the gazebo started in 2024 was completed. Residents enjoy having a place to rest when working on the box garden and spending time outside. Ativities were conducted to observe holidays and special occasions. Seniors Unlimited Lifestyles, Inc continued the partnership with Oak St Healthcare to provide preventative healthcare information to residents including chair exercise, nutrition tips, and medication managment. Virginia Wesleyan University students partnered with us to teach about cyber security. Additionally, the students taught residents painting, conducted bingo and assisted with cooki decorating. The Bayside branch of the Virginia Beach Public Library brought the bookmobile to residents. The library team conducted several activities with the residents: book tasting (a short read from a book passed on to the next reader), read & share, walk & share, movies and other excursions.
