Programs described in its return (1)
- $841,159 spent. The Arc works toward community life inclusion and access for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). During the pandemic, The Arc pivoted to provide 5,200 hours of virtual services to reduce isolation and increase socialization and intellectual stimulation. We provided 14,079 rides and covered 81,703 miles transporting 63 adults with disabilities to and from their homes, enabling them to participate in a wide range of community activities. In 2024, we expanded our fleet to include three additional vehicles, increasing our capacity to serve more individuals and ensure more reliable transportation access for programming and essential services. The first six months of the year were dramatically impacted by a Direct Support Professional (DSP) workforce shortage. Through strong advocacy efforts, we facilitated a significant increase in Medicaid waiver rates and were able to raise DSP wages from $12/hour to $15/hour, which helped attract and retain qualified staff. This allowed us to resume and then exceed pre-pandemic levels of in-person services. In 2024, we launched our ARCessible Art Program, a robust and inclusive initiative that brings together individuals with I/DD and over 80 community volunteers and local artists to engage in weekly creative expression, skill-building, and community connection. Additionally, we significantly increased volunteer engagement across all programs, including the daily efforts of our "Arc Angels" who continue to serve at locations such as Bridgewater Retirement Community, Asbury United Methodist Church, and the Elkton Area Community Center. Our individuals contributed a total of 4,680 volunteer hours to nonprofit organizations in our region. We no longer offer respite services. In 2024, we restructured our organization to deliver more efficient and expansive care through our Community Engagement and In-Home Services. These programs focus on supporting individuals with their independence goals and outcomes within their own homes and throughout the community. Families benefit from knowing their loved one is in the care of a trained professional, receiving meaningful, person-centered support.
