Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $33,906 spent. Carver Center Foundation provides funding support (i) for student grants, scholarships, and awards, for student programs and activities, and for faculty enrichment; (ii) for the purchase of classroom furnishings and equipment and materials and supplies for Carver Center's academic departments and 11 student "primes" (Acting, Carpentry/Building & Construction, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Dance, Digital Instrumental Music, IT/AI/Interactive Media Production, Literary Arts, Theatre Design & Production, Vocal Music, and Visual Arts); and (iii) for athletics and other student programs and activities, all with the aim of furthering the educational mission and programs of George Washington Carver Center for Arts & Technology. In the most recently completed fiscal year, this support has included (but has by no means been limited to) covering all or substantial portions of the registration fees for Dance students to attend the National High School Dance Festival and of the transportation costs for Cosmetology students to attend the International Beauty Show; once again organizing and bearing 100% of the quite considerable cost of a "safe and sober" post-prom event for graduating seniors and their young guests; funding a presentation to all students on Teen Dating & Violence Prevention; helping our teachers bear the out-of-pocket costs they generously incur for classroom items and otherwise organizing and funding teacher appreciation activities over the course of the year, as well as covering the costs of National Board Certification registration fees and helping them with activities that enrich their experiences and enhance their abilities to contribute to the education of our students; and generally providing funding to support student health and welfare.
